Scout Activities

Cub Scout Pack 167 participates in a number of activities throughout the year:

  1. Scout for a Day and Welcome Back Picnic:  Held in September at Kanemoto Park, this event is to welcome back returning scouts and sign up new scouts.
  2. Rain Gutter Regatta:  May be held once during the summer and once in early fall, scouts build and race wood sail boats in the rain gutter.
  3. Cub Haunted Weekend Camp Out:  Held in the beginning of October, scouts spend two days and one night at Boy Scout camp by Red Feather Lakes.  The boys participate in a number of activities and go through the Haunted House that Boy Scouts prepare for them.
  4. Pinewood Derby:  The Pinewood Derby is held in early February and District finals are held at the Scout Show in April.  The Derby was started in the 50's to promote sportsmanship and craftsmanship and to promote the building of a stronger bond between fathers and sons. Today, the goal is the same but we want the whole family involved!  For more info visit www.pinewoodderby.org.
  5. Parades:  Pack 167 decorates a float and participates in Longmont's Parade of Lights in December.
  6. Scout Show:  This event is held in April and provides the boys a chance to participate in many activities geared towards belt loops and requirements.  The District finals of the Pinewood Derby are held, and there is also a catapult contest and sometimes a camping store with discounted supplies.
  7. Day and Summer Camps:  Typically offered in June, the boys can attend and participate in many activities geared towards belt loops and requirements needed to advance.  Summer camps are hosted by the council and involve individual and family camping experiences.
  8. Hiking Club:  In June, July and August, Pack 167 gets together on a few weekends and hike some of Colorado's beautiful trails.  The boys also work on some of the nature-related requirements and belt loops.
  9. Flag Ceremonies:  These are done through out the year and at every pack meeting.  The Pack also does the flag ceremony for Colorado National Speedway during the summer and for Burlington Elementary on Veteran's Day.
  10. Klondike:  Typically held in late January, the boys participate in a number of fun, outdoor snow activities.  This is run similar to the summer day camp with opportunities to earn belt loops and meet requirements for advancement.

Community Service Actives

Food raising:  In November and sometimes in the summer, the boys collect food and clothing for the O.U.R. Center.  The Pack also participates in council-hosted food drives.

Neighborhood clean-up:  Through out the year, Pack 167 helps keep Southmoor Park clean.
