IMPORTANT INFORMATION

PROJECT-
A major requirement of earning the rank of Eagle id your Eagle Scout service project, after deciding on a project idea make sure to discuss it with a leader to make sure it will be eligible. Once you confirmed your project idea you will begin working on your project proposal ( which can be found online). Your proposal needs to be reviewed and signed by the Scoutmaster and then the Troop committee, next you will have to present it tot the NECF Eagle Board. The NECF Eagle Board meets once a month on the first Tuesday of every month to review projects. After your project proposal is approved and has three signatures you can begin on the final planning.

When purchasing materials for your project you can contact business in advance and inquire whether or not that they can give you a discount or donation. If you plan on fundraising for your project make sure to complete the fundraising sections in the paperwork throughout the approval and final stages. While working on your project make sure to have all volunteers ( including adults, scouts, and leader) record hours so that they can be recorded in the post project report.

PAPERWORK-
To start the paperwork process you first need to call Mrs. Sharon Roberts at the local BSA office and ask for your Eagle application. The application you receive from her is the same as the one online but it is filled out with the councils official information. You should review the application to make sure that it has the proper and most recent info recorded on it based on the troops' records. You can get a personal overview of your rank and merit badge achievements from our troop achievement chair, to use when checking the application. Once completed, along with the attached essay, this application needs to be signed by the Scoutmaster after the Scoutmaster Conference and then turned in to the BSA office.

Next you will need to begin the process of getting your three recommendation letters. You need one letter from three different people such as teachers, family friends, church leaders, or anyone who can properly describe and represent you. I recommend giving the template for the letter(can be printed online) in an envelope with your Scoutmaster's address on it and a stamp so that the process is easier for the person volunteering to help you; you should also give the person a date to send it out by, to speed up the process.

SCOUTMASTER CONFRENCE AND BOARD OF REVIEW-
When you are studying for your Scoutmaster Conference remember that you can be tested on any prior requirement and that you should be able to quickly and confidently answer any questions asked about requirements during the conference.

Your Scoutmaster Conference can take multiple meetings, so be prepared for this and have multiple available, consecutive dates to combat this.

To be fully prepared for your Scoutmaster Conference you should bring any supplies that may help you demonstrate your knowledge of the requirements such as, your 10 essentials, your Scout book, a map and compass, some rope, splint materials, etc. You will also need to bring your application so that it can be signed after the completion of the conference.

After the completion of your Conference, and the signing of the application as well as its submission, you will need to schedule a Board of review. To schedule a board of review I recommend communicating with Mr. Criser as he is a member of the NECF Eagle Board (but he will not be on your board). Scheduling an Eagle Board of Review can take multiple weeks so do not wait till the last minute.

For your board of review you should bring your completed application, your project information, materials to demonstrate requirements, your Scout book, and your should have your Scoutmaster bring the three recommendation letters that were sent to him.
