Pack 1572 has great scouts and wonderful adult leadership which makes all our events lots of fun. The Pack is very active with a wide range of activities for our boys. The pack runs a traditional year-round Cub Scouting program for our boys. Our pack calendar has one or two significant events a month and includes the following types of activities:

  • September - Back to Scouting meeting
  • October - Haunted Trail pack meeting, fall camporee
  • November - Scouting for Food, science theme pack meeting (rocketry, yo-yo's etc.)
  • December - Holiday party pack meeting, Christmas break museum trip.
  • January - Pinewood derby workshop, Tubing at Ski Liberty
  • February - Scout Sunday, Pinewood Derby
  • March - Blue and Gold Banquet honoring our cub scout events
  • April - Potomac River Cleanup, spring pack overnight adventure (Hard Bargain Farm, Taney coast guard cutter, Port Discovery, Constellation, etc.).
  • May - Bridging Ceremony, trip to a museum (Goddard Space Flight Center, College Park Aviation Museum, etc.)
  • June - family camping at Solomon's Island Naval Recreation Center
  • July - Cub Scout Day Camp, summer event (baseball game)
  • August - Swimming/bowling/etc. summer event

Pinewood Derby Race Car: The Green Dragon

The pack meets once a month as a large group. Each boy in the pack is assigned to a den. Our dens meet twice a month. We have 40 to 50 boys in our pack; each den has been between 5 and 10 boys. Tiger scouts, being first graders, are the youngest. Second graders are Wolves, third graders are Bears, and fourth and fifth graders are Webelos. Pack 1572 has dedicated den leaders who lead the individual den meetings.

In addition to having fun, our scouts also serve the community with an annual food drive and participating in community events such as the Potomac river cleanup and other service projects.

Our
families and leaders emphasize the Cub Scout promise, the law of the pack, and the twelve core values of Scouting. Our den leaders have completed the youth protection training offered by the BSA and the VIRTUS Protecting God’s Children program required by the Catholic Church.

Cub Scout Pack 1572 is sponsored by St. Mary's Catholic Church of Piscataway, MD.
