Cub Scout Pack 1180 – Remington, VA

Last Updated: March 7, 2017

What is Cub Scout Pack 1180 all about?

Cub Scouting is fun! In Cub Scouts you’ll have lots of fun, adventure, and participate in engaging activities with your den and pack. But, there’s more to it than that, being a Cub Scout means that you are a member of a worldwide youth movement that stands for certain values and beliefs. Cub Scouting is more than something to do – it’s all about the boy you are and the person you will become.

Cub Scout Pack 1180 contains 6 dens. The Cub Scouts in each den are all in the same grade. Each den contains 4-7 boys and the boys work on various projects such as fishing, astronomy, assorted sports, building skills, CAMPING, and much, much more!

The Cub Scout ranks are:

§ Tigers – 1st Grade Boys

§ Wolves – 2nd Grade Boys

§ Bears – 3rd Grade Boys

§ Webelos – 4th and 5th Grade Boys

Parent/Leader Meetings

Parent/Leader meetings are a chance for the leaders and parents of Pack 1180 to come together and plan for future activites. All parents are encouraged to attend! The more involved the parents are, the more activities and events can be planned – which means MORE FUN for the boys!

Parent/Leader meetings are held the third Tuesday of each month at the Remington United Methodist Church

Positions Open – HELP Needed!

We encourage all Parents to get involved. Your son(s) will not only love having you involved but will fondly remember the time you devoted to them for years to come.

Pack 1180 is always looking for adult leaders/volunteers. We understand that you have a lot of things to do. Trust us, we all do. But keep in mind that you would be doing this to help your son(s) grow towards an upstanding manhood. Plus, if you help, you get more say in what your son gets to do. Each year, we have approximately 1/5th of our Pack bridge over to Boy Scouts. When those Scouts bridge, so do the parent volunteers. Typically, the positions only last for 2 or 3 years. Fortunately for Pack 1180, many of the current leaders have had multiple sons in the Scouting program and therefore have led for considerably longer periods of time. However, even these dedicated leaders will be leaving soon.

Currently, we are looking for big positions, as well as small positions, including:

§ Committee Chair - Organization and scheduling skills a plus!

§ Individual Events Chair - Don't have time to take on a full time position? Please consider volunteering to coordinate one of the many events that the scouts participate in throughout the year!

If you are interested in helping your son(s) and his group, please attend the next monthly Parent/Leader meeting (See Event Calendar for location and time.).

§  YOUTH PROTECTION:

Any parent that would like to participate in Pack 1180 activities, such as camp-outs, car washes, and hikes, is REQUIRED to complete Boy Scouts of America Youth Protection Training.  This course is mandated in order to keep our boys safe.  Please go to http://www.myscouting.org, set up an account, and complete this training.  On average – it takes 30-40 minutes.  Please give your completion certificate to Pack Trainer, Stephanie Litter-Reber (you can give her a hard copy at Pack meetings, or email a soft copy to CubScoutPack1180@gmx.com).
